$307,000 and 100 scholarships since 1991
Town North Bank Presents $24,000 in College Scholarships to Six C-FB ISD Graduating Seniors
(Carrollton, TX) Town North Bank, located in Dallas, hit $307,000 in scholarships and 100 scholarship recipients upon
announcing the bank’s 2010 scholarship winners. Six Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (C-FB ISD)
seniors received $4,000 each. They are Kristina Cobb and Monica Rosales, R. L. Turner; Will Allen and Katherine Clyde,
Newman Smith; Ashley Carr and John Wall, Creekview.
The students were selected as Town North Bank scholarship recipients because of their ability to achieve and their commitment
to purpose. The bank began the scholarship program in 1991, and this year, the bank presented $24,000 in scholarships. Mr.
Steve McDonald, Town North Bank president, said, "The bank’s Board of Directors made this commitment to these students because
we believe in public education. But, we really believe in this school district -- the Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District."
Dr. Bobby Burns, C-FB ISD superintendent of schools, said, "Town North Bank has a long history of being a Carrollton-Farmers
Branch School District advocate. We value the bank’s continued support of our district and public education. These scholarships
will jump start the college education of these students."
Individual Student Bios
Kristina Cobb, Monica Rosales
Kristina Cobb is the daughter of Lawrence and Marie Cobb. An R. L. Turner senior, Kristina plans to attend The University of Texas
at Austin and major in international business/ communications. A National Merit Commended Student, Kristina is president of the
Theater Club and a member of the Senior Executive Council and the National Honor Society. She was named the best actress in the
2009 UIL One Act Competition and received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.
Monica Rosales is the daughter of Raudel and Maria Rosales. An R. L. Turner High School senior, Monica is in the Academy for
BioMedical Professions. Monica plans to attend Southern Methodist University and major in finance and pre-medicine. She has interned
as an Emergency Medical Technician at the Fire Departments and is active in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and
is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member of the symphonic orchestra and is teaching violin to an eight-year-old.
Will Allen, Katherine Clyde
Katherine Clyde is the daughter of Rhonda Ruffin and Terry Clyde. A Newman Smith High School senior, Katherine plans to attend
Stephen F. Austin State University and major in elementary education. Katherine has received the Newman Smith Principal’s Academic
Commendation annually since her freshmen year. She is a member of the band, National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.
Will Allen is the son of Grant and Kristy Allen. A Newman Smith High School senior, Will plans to attend Texas A&M University
and major in business management. A member of the Newman Smith varsity basketball team, Will coaches a basketball team of fourth and
fifth graders. He is a member of the National Honor Society, a Superintendent’s Scholar and an AP (Advanced Placement) scholar.
John Wall, Ashley Carr
Ashley Carr is the daughter of Rhonda and Phil Carr. A Creekview High School senior, Ashley plans to major in accounting at Texas
Tech. Ashley plays varsity volleyball and is a member of the Senior Executive Council. She has been active in Crimestoppers. Ashley
has received the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.
John Wall is the son of Teri and Kenny Wall. A Creekview High School senior, John plans to attend Oklahoma State University and
major in business/sports management. John has had perfect school attendance from kindergarten through his senior year. An All-District
Academic Team member, John played basketball all four years at Creekview. He is a member of the Senior Executive Council and plays
on North Texas Blaze Basketball team.
